Each week during the remainder of the 2006 season, uscsports.com will feature Q-and-A sessions with members of the Gamecock volleyball team. Freshman defensive specialist Sarah Cline provided today’s answers. Cline has seen the most playing time of South Carolina’s five freshmen this season, appearing in every match and 60 of 66 games. Cline has made five starts and is fifth in digs per game with a 1.48 average.
Nicknames: “Cliner” or “Legs,” but everyone pretty much calls me Sarah
I wear number 4 because: One of my first coaches told me I would be cool if I was number 4 because that had been his number
Favorite song: “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”
Favorite TV show: “Lost”
Favorite junk food: Ice cream with rainbow sprinkles
Most impressive person you know: My great grandmother who will be 100 years old this year
Person in history you would like to meet: Vincent Van Gogh
Person who has most influenced your athletic career: Andrea McCartney, an assistant coach at Winthrop who was my first club volleyball coach
Most memorable moment in athletics: The girls on my team going crazy after I made the winning hit during a game at the Big South Qualifier (I normally play the back row)
Best player you have ever faced: Megan Hodge
Craziest ambition: When I was little, I wanted to train animals at Sea World, live on the beach and ride a horse to work.
One thing you wish you were better at: Knowing what people are thinking
Favorite sports besides volleyball: Soccer and football
One possession you would keep if you lost all but one: A pair of earrings my mom passed down to me
Team you would most like to see added to the schedule: Winthrop
The best advice I have ever been given is: Be yourself, no matter what anyone else thinks of you.
