COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina equestrian will head to Athens, Ga. for their first road competition of the fall season when they face the Georgia Bulldogs on Friday, Oct. 6. Scheduled for a 2 p.m. start, the Gamecocks will try to improve upon their 2-0 record. This marks the third meet of the fall season.

“We are looking forward to a great competition with Georgia,” said head coach Boo Duncan. “It is always a heated competition between these two schools and I am sure this time out will be no different.”

Last year, the two teams met twice in dual competition and the Gamecocks went 0-2. The hunt seat team fell both times, while the western team went 1-1. The last time the two teams rode against each other was in round two of the Southern Equestrian Championships and USC fell 1351-1322.5. The Gamecocks are looking to post their first team victory against the Bulldogs in over a year.

“Both the western and hunt seat teams have had a great week of practice,” said Duncan. “We are as prepared as we can be and are anxious to go to Athens on Friday.”

Scheduled to compete for the Gamecocks in hunt seat include Kristen Terebesi (flat and fences), Carly Johns (flat), Sarah Lowe (flat), Kelley Campbell (flat and fences), Alex Haskell (flat), LIndsey Pace (fences), Nicole Bourgeois (fences) and Sarah Stephens (fences). Claire Sharp will ride exhibition in equitation on the flat and in over fences will be Lisa Bourbonniere.

For the western team, lined up for the Gamecocks will be Kristina Papendick (horsemanship and reining), Katie Grossnickle (horsemanship), Katy Biffle (horsemanship), Allison Bradley (horsemanship and reining), Rachel Sternoff (horsemanship and reining), Lindsay Williams (reining), and Rebekah Roof (reining). Biffle returns to the lineup for the first time this year after sitting out with an injury for the first two competitions. Riding exhibition will be Amy Biffle in horsemanship and Emily Bookwalter in reining.

USC will conclude the fall portion of its season on Oct. 28 when they travel to Fresno State. The spring portion of the schedule will resume in January when the Gamecocks host Stephen F. Austin.
