CHAPEL HILL, N.C. —It was a successful first day for University of South Carolina tennis players Yevgeny Supeko and Pedro Campos at the ITA Mideast Region Indoor Championships on Thursday in Chapel Hill, N.C. Both Gamecocks won their opening round singles matches to advance in the main draw.

Supeko, a junior, defeated Jason Morgenstern of Wake Forest, 6-2, 7-6 (4) to move into the round of 64, where he will face No. 17-seed Kiril Dimitrov of Duke Friday.

Campos, a freshman, defeated Emil Lindgren of Virginia Commonwealth, 6-4, 7-6 (5). He will meet No. 15-seed Sam Chang of Florida State on Friday in the round of 64.

Supeko and Campos are seeded No. 9 in the doubles main draw and are scheduled to play Andrey Bubnov and Arsel Kumdereli of UNC-Greensboro.

The tournament continues Friday and through the weekend.
