CHAPEL HILL, N.C.– South Carolina freshman Pedro Campos defeated two seeded opponents Friday to advance to the Round of 16 at the ITA Mideast Region Championship in Chapel Hill, N.C.

In his second round match, Campos knocked off the No. 15 seed in his half of the bracket, Sam Chang of Florida State. Campos outlasted Chang in three sets, winning 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.

In the Round of 32, Campos earned a straight sets, 6-5, 7-5 victory over No. 17 seed Marko Milko of Virginia. Campos is scheduled to face the tournament’s No. 2 seed, Harel Srugo of Old Dominion at 10:30 a.m. Saturday on the UNC campus.

Junior Yevgeny Supeko won his opening match on Friday, but fell to Kiril Dimitrov of UNC-Greensboro, who was seeded No. 17 in his half of the bracket, 7-6(4), 6-1, in the Round of 64.

Campos and Supeko withdrew from the doubles portion of the tournament.
