Jennifer Stiles has been named Director of Compliance/ Assistant Athletics Director, the University of South Carolina athletics department announced today. She will begin her duties on November 7.

Stiles will oversee five full-time staff members in the athletics compliance office at USC. She will report to Senior Associate AD/SWA Val Sheley on the day-to-day compliance operations and also has direct reporting lines to both Athletics Director Eric Hyman and University President Dr. Andrew Sorensen.

“We are very excited to have Jennifer join the Gamecock family,” said Sheley. “She brings a wealth of compliance management experience to the table and will be a valued member of the staff.”

“I am very pleased to join the staff at South Carolina,” said Stiles. “Eric Hyman is a nationally-respected athletics director and a proven leader, and the coaches I have met thus far seem tremendous. Great things lie ahead at Carolina and I look forward to being a part of an exciting future.”

Stiles has spent the past seven years at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She joined the Bobcat program as a Director of Compliance in 1999, was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance and Student Services in 2001, then was promoted again to Associate Athletics Director for Compliance and Student Services in 2004. While at Ohio University she supervised the areas of compliance, academic services and strength & conditioning, while assisting with department-wide budget allocation, policy implementation and strategic planning. She was also the administrator of ten of the 20 Division I sports sponsored by Ohio University.

Prior to her stint at Ohio University, Stiles worked in the compliance office at the University of Kentucky from 1992-1999, including a year as the eligibility coordinator.

Stiles graduated cum laude from the University of Kentucky in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. She also earned a master’s degree in business administration from UK in 1998. She is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators and the National Association of Athletics Compliance Coordinators.

Stiles, a native of Greenbrier, Tenn., and her husband, Derek, will relocate to Columbia in the near future.
