Columbia, S.C. –
South Carolina Student-Athletes will be collecting canned food donations on Friday, Nov. 17 prior to the Women’s basketball game vs North Carolina A&T. This is the final push to beat Clemson to collect the most canned goods. All fans that bring a canned food item will receive $3 admission to the Women’s Basketball game. The proceeds from this food drive will benefit the Harvest Hope Food Bank of the Midlands.

The competition with Clemson lasts until November 17 and the winner will be announced at the USC-Clemson football game.

Every year, student athletes from different South Carolina teams coordinate projects by taking responsibility to serve as goodwill ambassadors not only for their respective programs, but also for the Athletics Department and the University of South Carolina as a whole. In addition, a number of student athletes elect to perform individual community service hours in a variety of areas. The University of South Carolina Athletics Department is committed to providing volunteer opportunities for student athletes to connect with people in the surrounding community. The greater Columbia community is invited to utilize members of Team Gamecocks to serve as role models and willing volunteers.
