COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina head coach Boo Duncan announced the signing of western rider, Chloe Gray, of Tampa, Fla. for the 2007-08 year. Gray, a reiner, is currently ranked No. 1 in the Florida Reining Horse Association (FRHA) Youth 14-18 category. She is also second in the Intermediate Non-Pro Division in the FRHA.

“Coach Ruth Sorrel and I are very pleased to add Chloe to our list of reiners coming to USC,” said Duncan. “Florida has an extremely active reining horse association and the fact that she is leading the state in the fall is exciting. She is the caliber equestrian rider we need, in order to continue to be more successful in reining.”

A two-time FRHA Affiliate Reserve Champion Youth 14-18, Gray was the 2005 FRHA Affiliate Intermediate Non-Pro Champion, the FRHA Youth 14-18 Champion and the FRHA Reserve Champion Intermediate Non-Pro. She placed 16th nationally at the 2005 National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) 14-18 event.

She placed seventh at the 2004 NRHA Eastern Region Affiliate Championship Show, and in 2003, she was the FRCHA Junior Limited Champion, the NRCHA Eastern Region Junior Limited Champion and the NRCHA Reserve National Champion – Junior Limited.

Gray is a senior at Braulio Alonso High School and is the daughter of Marshall and Laura Gray.
