University of South Carolina vs. UNC-Asheville
December 28, 2006
Post Game Quotes

UNC-Asheville Head Coach Eddie Biedenbach:
“South Carolina is a good basketball team and Dave Odom always does a good job coaching his teams. They play a lot of freshmen and we thought that because of that we could come in here and surprise them. The first three or four minutes of the game they were up 17-4. We didn’t come in here ready to play as a team, with the effort we needed to play against South Carolina. South Carolina took advantage of that by moving the ball and having a solid offense overall.”

USC Coach Dave Odom
“It was a good outing for us. I was very pleased that we came out from Christmas break. I thought we were very enthusiastic in practice. Yesterday’s practice wasn’t great but it wasn’t bad. One of the reasons we played hard was that I thought our team really responded well to the crowd.”

USC Senior Center Brandon Wallace:
“We talked about it earlier. Tre’ and I wanted to get it together and going early so we could sit down. We didn’t want to have another 40 minute night and then have to play again tomorrow, so that was huge.”

Regarding early baskets:
“It was like `Happy Holidays’ to us. A lot of guys making shots – Evka finally got out and made a three-ball so it was really good.”

Regarding UNC-Ashville’s 7’6″ player:
“He was the biggest person I’ve ever seen in my life. To see somebody dunk it like that just blows your mind. I tried to make him change direction before I made my move. If I could make him move without putting it on the floor, then I could use my quickness.”

USC Freshman Forward Dominique Archie:

Regarding his and team’s play:
“We felt like we had to prove a point. I haven’t been showing up lately so it was good to play well.”
