Jack C. Wilson has been named Director of Stewardship for the Gamecock Club, Associate Athletics Director Chris Wyrick announced today. Wilson will begin his duties on Jan. 9.

Wilson’s primary focus will be to improve the Gamecock Club’s communication with its 14,444 members. Specifically, he will be working with donor reconciliation and record keeping, enhancing spring meetings and working closely with Spurs & Feathers. He will serve as the liaison with the Lettermen’s Association and be the internal mouthpiece for the Gamecock Club.

“I am ecstatic that we are bringing Jack Wilson over from the Alumni Association,” said Wyrick. “Jack is very highly regarded around the Gamecock Nation and we are very much looking forward to bringing him on board to improve communication with our Gamecock Club members.”

Wilson, who earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism from South Carolina in 1974, has been employed by the university for 29 years, the last 25 in the Alumni Association. Most recently has served as the Director of Development for the Carolina Alumni Relations.

“I am very excited about this new opportunity with the Department of Athletics,” said Wilson. “I never thought that I would leave the Alumni Association, but the chance to work with Gamecock Athletics and its current leadership was too great to pass up. Having served as a football manager as an undergraduate and later working in the Office of Sports Information, I think that my career has come full circle. I look forward to working with Chris Wyrick and his staff.”

Wilson, a native of Danville, Va., is married to the former Paula Carter, who holds both a bachelor’s (1976) and master’s (1989) degree from USC. They have twin daughters and one grandchild.
