Columbia, S.C. – The South Carolina Equestrian team defeated the defending National Western Champion Oklahoma State 12-8 on Saturday at OneWood Farm in Blythewood. The team also swept MVP honors in the Hunt Seat division with Kristen Terebesi- equitation over fences and Sarah Lowe- equitation on the flat.

“I was once again very proud of the Hunt Seat team as we remain undefeated. It’s a great feeling and I feel that they are going to continue to do well and get better,” said head coach Boo Duncan. “Oklahoma State has a very good Hunt Seat team, and they had an even better Western team. Being that they are the reigning National Champions I think our team did a great job, especially in the horsemanship competition. We got into a little bit of trouble in the reining, but overall I think our team gave a good effort and will continue to improve.”

The Hunt Seat team continued their perfect season by advancing their record to 6-0. The Gamecocks defeated the Cowgirls 377-358 in equitation on the flat and 388-370 in equitation over fences.
