Recap | Box Score | Notes

USC Coach Susan Walvius

“Turnovers in the first half really killed us. It was just lack of poise and throwing the ball away. It gave them easy shots with their offense. When you have 18 turnovers in a half, you give the opponent 18 opportunities to score.”

“We had very few turnovers in second half. We played with a lot more poise and attacked the press better, but weren’t able to get stops in the second half like we needed. When we go to the offensive lineup we give up our defense, and when we go to our defensive lineup we give away our offense.”

“It was a tale of two halves. You beat Georgia by one in the second half, but the first half killed us.”

“You have to give (Georgia coach) Andy Landers credit. They had a great gameplan for South Carolina today. They were prepared and did a great job against us. I was pleased with way our team adjusted in the second half. You have to take some positives from the game because we still have some games ahead of us.”

Regarding Lauren Simms coming off the bench:

“She probably doesn’t like it at all. She’s been almost a four-year starter for us, and then all of a sudden with four games left in her senior year she’s not starting. Whether she’s angry or whatever it is, it’s certainly brought out some positives in her game.”

“Georgia’s really good and they are hard to guard because they have size similar to ours but they shoot the ball extremely well from perimeter.”
