Game Notes

  • Tennessee leads the series 26-23 overall but the Gamecocks hold a 14-7 advantage in Columbia. Tennessee won the meeting earlier this season 64-61 on January 20, 2007 in Knoxville. This was Carolina’s largest win against UT since defeating the Vols 85-64 on January 17, 2004.

  • The game featured the SEC’s two leading scorers – Chris Lofton (UT) overall with 20.7 and Tre’ Kelley (USC) in league play with 19.8.

  • Brandon Wallace and Tre’ Kelley are playing in their 130th and 129th career games, respectively. The USC career record is held by Carlos Powell at 132 (2001-05).

  • Brandon Wallace’s three blocks in the first half tied Alex English at 230 (1973-76). Wallace added another block in the second half to total four for the game. He needs four to tie Danny Traylor’s record of 235 and five to break it.

  • Tre’ Kelley has scored in double figures in 22 games this season and 65 times in his career. He has scored 10+ points in 11 straight games and has scored in 69 straight games dating back to Vanderbilt (3/2/05). He has 20+ points in 11 games this year and 19 games in his career. He has 21+ points in four straight games – including a school record 36 (in SEC regular season) at UK on Feb. 7. Kelley moved to No. 15 on the career list with 1379 points (with 25). He needs 5 (to pass Zam Fredrick (1383, 1977-81) and move to No. 14.

  • Bryce Sheldon hit double figures for the 11th time this year and 12th time in his career. He has 4+ 3s in 8 games this year including a career-high 7 3s in the 74-70 OT win at Southern California (11/16/06). He has scored in double figures in five of the last six games.
  • Brandis Raley-Ross scored 12 points. It was the most points he had since he scored 18 vs. Western Carolina on Jan. 3. It is also the most points he has scored in SEC play (previous high was 5 at UGA on Jan. 18). He was 5 of 41 in SEC play entering the UT game.

  • South Carolina has 10 or more three pointers in six games this season – including 13 vs. UT. That tied the season high for most three’s in a game by the Gamecocks. (13 against Auburn). Carolina hit 12 three’s in three different games this season. (Alabama, Kentucky, and Southern California). They have hit 10 or more in four of their last seven games.

  • Dominique Archie dished out a career high four assists. His previous high was three against Arkansas on January 24, 2007.
