Rio Grande, Puerto Rico – The South Carolina women’s golf team sits in fifth place at 13-over after two rounds at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic, played at the par-72 Coco Beach Golf Course. Auburn leads the field with a two-round even par score of 576, five strokes ahead of second place Oklahoma State. Auburn’s Mariana Macias and Oklahoma State’s Pernilla Lindberg sit atop the individual leader board at four-under par heading into the final round.

Jenna Pearson, who teed off on the second hole to begin the round, improved her first round score by three strokes after carding three birdies in the first eight holes. Pearson’s one-under second round gave her a nine position improvement from the first round as she currently stands in a tie for 10th place with a two round score of 145.

Camila Mori matched her first round score of 74 to sit at four-over-par heading into the final round. She started off the round with bogeys on her first and fourth holes but settled down the rest of the day to shoot par on the remaining 14 holes.

Whitney Simons, team leader after the opening round at one-over par, shot an even par over the first 12 holes in the second round before falling into trouble. Simons posted a bogey, double bogey, and bogey on the next three holes to increase her score to four-over where she finished the round.

Bénédicte Toumpsin increased her position the most on Saturday, improving 20 positions to sit in a tie for 35th with a score of 152 (+8) heading into the final round. Blythe Worley also competed and is at nine-over heading into the final round.

Playing as an individual with her score not counting toward the team total, junior Laura Raffo sits at +14 after two rounds.
