South Carolina leads the series 21-19 and holds an 11-8 lead in Columbia. Tonight’s game marked the first time that Vanderbilt swept the regular season series against Carolina since sweeping in 1992-93, and 1993-94. Vanderbilt won the meeting earlier this season 78-68 in Nashville on February 14, 2007.

The Gamecocks are now 1-1 in overtime this season. (W 74-70 vs. Southern Cal, November 16, 2006) The Gamecocks are 43-38 all-time in overtime. Since joining the SEC, Carolina has gone to overtime four times against Vanderbilt which is tied for the most against one team with four also coming against Georgia.

Brandon Wallace played in his 133rd game in the Garnet and Black which is the school record.

Tre’ Kelley scored in double figures for the 25th time this season and the 68th time in his career. It was the 13th time this season and the 21st time in his career that he recorded 20+ points. It was the second time in his career he had 30+ (other was at UK this year when he scored 36). He has scored 20+ points in nine of 15 SEC games this season. He tallied 20 of his 32 points in the second half. He scored in double figures in 14 of the 15 SEC games.

Tre’ Kelley recorded eight assists and now has 500 in his career. He is the third Gamecock in school history with at least 500 assists. He has at least eight assists in five games this season. The game against Vanderbilt was his 132nd which is tied for second all-time with Carlos Powell.

Vanderbilt hit 16 three point attempts against South Carolina on Wednesday night with 11 coming in the first half. The previous high in a game this season was 13 by Lipscomb on November 19, 2006. The last time a team hit 11+ three’s in a half was Florida on February 24, 1999 in Gainesville. The Gators were 11 of 18 in the first half shooting 61%. UF ended up with 17 three pointers which is in a three way tie for first place for most three pointers made by an opponent in a game against Carolina.

Bryce Sheldon scored in double figures for the 13th time this season and the 15th time in his career.

Dominique Archie scored in double figures for the 14th time this season. The 21 points by Archie was a new career high. His previous career high was 20 points against Lipscomb on November 19, 2006. The most points that he scored in a SEC contest before tonight’s game was 15 against Vanderbilt on February 14, 2007.

Brandis Raley-Ross recorded six rebounds. He has five or more rebounds in three of the last four games.

Carolina trailed by as many as 17 (52-35 and 54-37) in the game before tying the game up at 69. Before taking a 73-71 lead on two free throws by Tre’ Kelley, USC’s last lead was 25-23 when Brandis Raley-Ross hit a three pointer with 7:20 remaining in the first half. Carolina held the lead or the game was tied in the final minutes of regulation. The second half ended with both teams deadlocked at 81. Vanderbilt took the lead in overtime on a three-pointer by Derrick Byars.

The 90 points by Carolina was the most for the Gamecocks at the Colonial Center this season. They recorded 81 against Tennessee on February 17, 2007. It is the most that they have scored since scoring 91 against Appalachian State on December 1, 2004.

The 99 points by Vanderbilt are the most by a men’s team in the Colonial Center. The previous high was 91 by Carolina against Appalachian State on December 1, 2004. Vanderbilt tied the most three pointers hit by one team in the Colonial Center. Alabama hit 16 on February 4, 2004. The 189 points combined by South Carolina and Vanderbilt are the most combined by two teams. The previous record was 172 by USC (90) and Alabama (82) on February 4, 2004.
