Recap | Final Stats | Notes
Columbia, S.C. – USC Head Coach Susan Walvius “We’re obviously disappointed and I thought we came out differently than we did against Hartford. I don’t think we had the same amount of aggression as we did last week. You have to give a lot of credit to this Hofstra team because they forced us to play a half court game and really slowed our game down which didn’t allow us to take advantage of the depth that we have.”
“This is always a really hard time. I know what this day feels like as a player. I know how hard that day is and how different the next day and the rest of your life is going to be for the players. For some, this is the end of a book and for some it’s the end of a chapter of their life.”
“I thought that Hofstra’s defensive game plan was great. If I were to have played our team this year, that’s the game plan I would have played and I’m surprised more teams didn’t play us like that. We are a team that relies on the transition game because we haven’t shot that well this season.”
“What kept us in the game this entire season is offensive rebounds and they took that out of the game. I think we are better rebounding team than was showed tonight, but we weren’t able to put back the ball.”
“I feel that they were an SEC physical team, which they needed to do because of our size. Their execution was excellent.”
USC Player Lakesha Tolliver “The game was very emotional. It’s hard to end the season with a loss. We came off the court knowing that we played hard, but it was disappointing.”
“The goal is always to make the (NCAA) Tournament, and it will be next year. We have a lot of talent coming back, but I want to thank our seniors for everything that they have taught us and showed us this year.”
USC Player Brionna Dickerson “One thing that Coach (Walvius) has said to me is that she wanted me to be a spark off the bench and bring something to the team. Now that this season is over, we can focus on next year, especially with the people who are coming back. We will have a lot of talent.”
“We are very happy to have had the opportunity to play in the post season because a lot of teams didn’t have that chance, but the goal is always to win the last game of the year.”
Hofstra Head Coach Krista Kilburn-Steveskey “It is a great win for the CAA and for the Hofstra program. We wanted to come out and show pride and prove that Hofstra plays in a quality league and is a quality team; I think that we did that today.”
“We didn’t play too much man-to-man this game because South Carolina’s size is so dominant. They have quality kids and quality players.”
“I think our defensive pressure stopped them from doing what they wanted to do. They get up the court quicker than any team that we have played this season, but we knew that coming into this game. I think we did a good job of containing that this game.”
