Browns Summit, N.C. – The South Carolina women’s golf team is in fifth place with a 607 after the second round of the Bryan National Collegiate, played at the par-72 Bryan Park Champions Course. Senior Jenna Pearson sits tied for fifth on the individual leader board, two strokes behind the leader heading into the final 18 holes of the tournament.
Pearson, who led the field after she shot a career best 68 in the opening round Friday, started Saturday’s round with a bogey and double-bogey to push herself back to the rest of the field. Pearson finished six-over Saturday to bring her two day score to 146 (+2).
Whitney Simons led the Gamecocks Saturday with a 75 (+3) and is tied for 41st heading into the final round. Camila Mori and Bénédicte Toumpsin both sit tied for 26th with a two-day score of 15. Toumpsin carded a 77 (+5) Saturday while Mori scored an 80 (+8). Blythe Worley also competed for the Gamecocks, finishing with an 82 (+10) Saturday to bring her two-day score to 165. She currently is tied for 82nd on the individual leader board.
Final round action resumes with an 11 a.m. Shotgun start tomorrow.
