Columbia, SC – David Huertas hit two free throws with 14.7 seconds to seal a 95-92 win for SCORE International over the Obras Cobras from Argentina in Argentina. David Potter put on a show as he scored a team high 18 points in the winning effort including a 3-point shot to tie the game with just under two minutes to play.

“This was a great team win” said Vanderbilt University guard Jermaine Beal, who scored 15 points. “This was a very good team and gave us all they had.”

The Obras team had several professional players including seven from the 2004 Olympic Gold medal team.

The game was tight the whole way through. The SCORE team jumped to an early 9-0 lead, but the Argentines chipped away, eventually taking the lead in the third quarter. Chad Gray and Jarvis Varnado both fouled out while Mitchell Carter ended the game with four. Perimeter play was crucial as both Bryce Sheldon and JeJuan Brown hit three pointers in the fourth quarter to keep the Argentina team within striking distance.

“Any time you have USA on your uniform you want to play as hard as you can.” Mitchell Carter commented after the game. “We are happy to get this win for the team and our country.”
