Columbia, S.C. – Fans will have their first glimpse at the South Carolina men’s soccer team tonight when it hosts Furman in an exhibition match at Stone Stadium on the USC campus. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. and admission to the match is free.

Carolina officially opens the 2007 season next Friday, Aug. 31, in a tilt with intra-state rival Clemson. The match is set for 7:30 p.m. at Riggs Field in Clemson. Carolina’s first home match is on Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. against Presbyterian.

Head coach Mark Berson, who is beginning his 30th season at the helm of the Gamecock soccer program, returns four of 11 starters and 16 lettermen from the 2004 team. In 2006, USC compiled a 11-5-1 record.
