HANAHAN, S.C. – Bénédicte Toumpsin turned in a team-best 73 (+1) in the second round of the Cougar Classic at Yeaman’s Hall Golf Club Monday as South Carolina slipped two spots to eighth with one round remaining. Freshman Erika Holmen joined Toumpsin with steady play as she carded a 74 on Monday after an opening-round 73 Sunday.

Toumpsin’s 73 kept her in a tie for 12th place, while Holmen moved into 26th place. Sunday’s South Carolina leader Whitney Simons battled on Monday, shooting 79 to fall to 38th place. Senior Blythe Worley is in 47th position after posting a 74 Monday, three strokes better than her opening round. Sophomore Taylor Barrett rounded out the team with a 77 to match her Sunday score and stand in 64th position.

Tennessee leapt over fellow SEC members Alabama and LSU to take over the team lead after Monday’s round. At even par (576), the Volunteers are three strokes ahead of Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish boast the individual leaders in So-Hyun Park, who carded a 69 on Monday after turning in a 70 on Sunday to sit at -5 for the tournament.
