The South Carolina cross country team is back in action as it heads to Rock Hill, S.C., Sat., Sept. 15 for the Asics-Winthrop Invitational at the Winthrop Lake Course. The women’s 5,000-meter race set to begin at 10 a.m. and will feature Davidson among the competition, a 2007 top-10 region team.

The Gamecocks are coming off of a third place finish two weeks ago at the Gamecock Invitational. Senior Rebecca Chain led South Carolina when she finished ninth with a time of 18:52.

“We have had good workouts following our home meet and we will be ready to race our best Saturday,” Head Cross Country Coach Stan Rosenthal said.

The Gamecocks last competed at the Asics-Winthrop Invitational in 2005 as they ran to a third-place finish.

After the Asics-Winthrop Invitational, the South Carolina cross country team will return to action Fri., Sept 21 in Charlotte, N.C. at 6 p.m.
