FRANKLIN, Tenn. – In a 17-team field that featured 13 squads ranked in the top 25, including nine of the nation’s top 10, South Carolina women’s golf tied with fellow Southeastern Conference member Kentucky for 14th in the Mason Rudolph Women’s Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club. Sophomore Bénédicte Toumpsin led the Gamecocks with a three-round total of 220 (+4) to hold a share of 22nd place.
Toumpsin closed the tournament with a 70 (-2) on Sunday after posting 74 and 76 on Friday and Saturday, respectively. While the sophomore opened each half of her round with a bogey, she added four birdies to claim a spot among the top 25 golfers in the field.
Erika Holmen took 48th place with a three-round 225 (+9) after opening the tournament with a season-best round of 70, posting four birdies. The freshman carded 79 on Saturday and wrapped up the event with a 76 Sunday. Senior Blythe Worley’s 230 (+14) was good for 66th place, shooting 75-76-79. Seniors Camila Mori and Whitney Simons rounded out the Gamecock team. Mori finished 74th in her first event of the season with rounds of 75, 80 and 77. Simons sandwiched an 82 between opening and closing rounds of 77 to claim 82nd place.
#3 UCLA won the team title by six strokes over #2 Arizona State. Top-ranked Duke, which finished third, boasted the individual medalist in Amanda Blumenherst who finished 13-under at 203 (66-68-69).
