COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina women’s soccer team is ranked 20th in this week’s NSCAA/adidas coaches poll and remains in the top 25 in all four polls released Tuesday. The Gamecocks (8-3-0, 0-2 SEC) are ranked for the fifth consecutive week after dropping a pair of tough road conference matches in overtime to No. 6 Tennessee and No. 21 Georgia.
Carolina also peaks at No. 20 in the Soccer Times. The Gamecocks round out at No. 24 in Soccer Buzz magazine and No. 25 in Soccer America. In addition, the Gamecocks are ranked No. 5 in the NSCAA Southeast region poll and No. 6 in the Soccer Buzz Southeast region poll.
South Carolina and Tennessee are the only Southeastern Conference schools to be ranked each of the past five weeks.
No. 20 South Carolina returns to action Friday in the SEC home opener against Kentucky. The Gamecocks will host a Family Fun Fest before the game with inflatable bounce houses, face painting and mini soccer games with Cocky. The pre-game Fun Fest begins at 5:30 p.m. and the match starts at 7 p.m. All fans will be admitted for one dollar ($1).
