Meet Mitchell Carter!
GO: How do you see this year’s team compared to last year’s team?
MC: I think we’re fairly different. Everybody wants to play hard and get better.
GO: How is the dynamic of the team different this year?
MC: It’s a lot different. We have a lot of personality on our team. Everybody’s different. You get to learn about people from year to year.
GO: What have you been able to improve on over the summer?
MC: I’m improved mentally, physically, and most importantly, as a person to help my teammates improve.
GO: With leaders from last year’s team like Tre’ Kelley and Brandon Wallace gone, who is stepping up to fill those leadership positions?
MC: I don’t believe we lost leadership. I believe we gained new leaders. We have a lot of leaders. Everyone takes ownership in the team. Even though it might not be the captain going out to talk to the referee, everybody takes responsibility for the team.
GO: You’re from Wisconsin. What brought you all the way down here? What interested you in Carolina?
MC: When I came down here to visit, I just fell in love with the city and the people. There’s nothing like Southern Hospitality. I guess Coach Odom had a lot to do with it and a lot of the players on the team, and the way they carried themselves. They play hard everyday and work hard to get better. That’s the kind of program that I wanted to be affiliated with.
GO: What’s your favorite thing about being here at South Carolina?
MC: I love my team. Even though we all might have our differences at times, we might scuffle, I really love my team.
