COLUMBIA, S.C. — Darcel Mollon from the women’s soccer team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.
Mollon scored the game-winning goal in just the ninth minute of play to propel USC to a victory against third-seed Tennessee in the SEC Tournament quarterfinals. The victory was the first ever for South Carolina against the Lady Vols and was Carolina’s first ever win in the SEC Tournament in six appearances.
Mollon’s score marked her team-leading 10th of the year and pushed her to 23 points on the season. She becomes the first Gamecock since 1999 to score 10 goals in a season and pass 20 points in a season. Mollon earned second team All-SEC honors last week and jumped to No. 7 on the South Carolina all-time scoring list with 37 career points.
