COLUMBIA, S.C. — Sophomore guard Devan Downey from the South Carolina men’s basketball team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Downey led the Gamecocks to a 68-67 win over Providence on Thursday in the Big East/SEC Invitational in Philadelphia. He led the team in scoring with 21 on 8-of-17 shooting while dishing out five assists and recording five steals.

Downey is averaging 18.4 points per game this season to lead South Carolina and is also tops in assists and steals with 4.78 and 3.44 per game. He is ranked fifth in the Southeastern Conference in scoring as well.
