Head Coach Dave Odom
“It was a flip of the performance Wednesday night where we had the big lead only to lose it and lose the game.”
“The real irony is if you look where the leads increased both nights, it was about the same place.”
“Zam Fredrick had a horrible day shooting at that point. Someone said to give him a rest and I said no. I’ve watched him play since he was in ninth grade. He’s always one shot away from a run.”
“The last minute and a half was interesting. They only had four fouls at that time and we knew they would be aggressive to get to the `one-and-one’. When they finally made the sixth foul, we knew we would get the last shot.”
“We’re 6-5 and not where we want to be. The thing that bothers me now is defense. We have lost our confidence defensively, but if you look at the last five minutes of play we did shut them down.”
“I’m proud of our team in terms of willingness to come back after a difficult game Wednesday night. That’s not an easy thing for young people to do.”
“We started off slow, I think it took us about 30 minutes to get our motor running and get it together. We came together and finished well.”
“We stepped up. Zam started hitting shots. My teammates started playing really well towards the end.”
Chad Gray
“We finally came together and pulled it off at the end. We fought hard and that’ll help our confidence when you’re able to finish strong at the end.”
“Zam being a leader of the team came through and helped us out a lot. Devan had a great game at the end.”
“It was good for us that we were down and stood together and kept fighting even though things weren’t going our way. We still had confidence in ourselves and in each other.”
“It feels good to come back and win a game but I’m not overjoyed about it. We were up against Baylor with a 20 point lead and found a way to lose that game. I feel that we are good team and if we came out and played 40 minutes of basketball the way we know how we could dominate.”
“It was big for us, showed we could battle while being down and showed the fight that people and other teams have been using against us. We haven’t been able to battle back and we showed that we could do that today. It is a big step for us going into SEC play.”
“It feels good to win this game. We get to go into break feeling good about ourselves with a boost of confidence. We get to have some time off and regroup, knowing that we won. We’re headed in the right direction.”
Head Coach Bobby Cremins
“This was a tough one for us. We had the opportunity to win. Give South Carolina a lot of credit. I told the team I was proud of them.”
“South Carolina scored too easily. This was a great win for them.”
“We have a young team. I feel bad because we played well enough to win the past two games. We’ll come around though.”
“I had a great time seeing old teammates. I’m thankful to the University and for Dave and what he did for us.”
