COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s tennis team continues non-conference action this weekend, hosting Appalachian State from the Southern Conference and Charleston Southern from the Big South in a scheduled doubleheader at the USC Indoor Fieldhouse on Saturday. Carolina will face Charleston Southern at 10 a.m., while the match against Appalachian State is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. The Gamecocks ride a two-match winning streak into weekend play, having defeated Wofford (6-1) and Troy (5-2) during the opening weekend. Saturday’s competitions mark the first of the year for both Appalachian State and Charleston Southern.

The Gamecocks won several hard-fought matches last weekend, as sophomore Pedro Campos led the squad with two doubles and two singles victories. Senior Jaime Cuellar returned as well, having competed very sparingly in the fall after an injury last spring. Cuellar competed in both doubles and singles against Troy, capturing victories in both matches.

Senior Yevgeny Supeko collected two doubles victories with his partner for the day, sophomore Diego Cubas. Supeko also picked up a strong victory playing at the No. 1 singles position, winning a three-set tiebreak for the point. Newcomers Johannes Pulsfort and Chris Sheehan also picked up singles victories against Wofford, while veterans David Wolff, Ivan Cressoni and Joe Veeder also competed for South Carolina.
