South Carolina Head Coach Susan Walvius
“I’m usually the one coming in here with something good to say, but tonight was one of the worst performances I’ve seen from our team this year. Mississippi State has a great ability to make teams play ugly, and that’s what they did to us tonight.”
“We didn’t start the game well, but we did a good job coming out at the half. But we just didn’t play with passion tonight. We didn’t compete at the level we normally compete at.”
Lakesha Tolliver • Sr. • Forward
“We could’ve rebounded better. Sometimes we had our hands on it and couldn’t gather it in to secure the ball. We played poorly on defense. Our turnovers also gave them easy lay-ups.”
“Rebounding was key, especially in the last minutes. If we had rebounded the ball, we could have had a chance tie it up. Rebounding was key late in the game because it allowed them to get up by four.”

“They’re all tough, but this was tougher because we didn’t play hard. They out-scrapped us. We have to be more disciplined. It’s down to the wire. It’s crunch time now.”
Mississippi State Head Coach Sharon Fanning
“Anytime you go on the road and win a tight game, it’s a plus.”
“South Carolina has a great size inside and some really good guards who can shoot well from the outside. We scrapped and played hard inside. I was impressed that we held them under 40 percent in the second half.”
“The three point play towards the end of the game by Marneshia (Richard) was great. That gave us a great boost. We had to guard multiple offenses, and we improved throughout the game.”
“I’m proud of our team, and I hope this game can lead to something positive. We still have young players, and I hope this will help us out.”
“We’re always getting in position for the postseason. This was a great win for us. We’re always looking at how we can improve and get our team to play the best that they can.”
