Recap | Box Score

South Carolina Head Coach Susan Walvius
“Outside of a 12 minute period, we played well. Georgia came down and hit every shot during that stretch. We played well in the second half and even outscored them.”

“Georgia did a good job in their zone defense. Our young guards didn’t do well against it.”

“The seniors did well tonight. Lakesha (Tolliver) came in and did well against their post players. We just couldn’t stop them on the boards.”

“We missed a lot of shots. We just couldn’t get them to fall. We can’t be offensively motivated at this level. The game at this level is about stops. We did a better job in the second half of protecting the ball. There are a lot of good things to take from this game. We finally are having players in their rhythm.”

“It has been a great opportunity to play here. It has been great playing with the people I came here with and the people I am leaving here with. We also had great fans that have stood behind us.”

“Tonight the objective was to play hard. But we had some breakdowns when we turned the ball over on offense. But overall we did a good job picking it up in the second half.”

Ilona Burgrova • Sr. • C
“We could have done a better job with transition, but I still think we did a good job. We also didn’t hit some shots that we usually do, but we still tried hard.”

Georgia Head Coach Andy Landers
“I thought defensively we played very, very good. Defensively I thought South Carolina played very, very good. It probably wasn’t the prettiest game to watch. Both teams fought hard for rebounds. We got some open shots inside early that made the day. We were able to separate ourselves from them early. When that happens, kids feel more comfortable. You can miss some shots and still be okay. When you’re down, it’s a tough road to travel.”

“The number of points don’t bother me. South Carolina played good defensively. Getting ready for Tennessee, rebounds are important. We were able to out-rebound tonight a very good rebounding team. We are also able to leave here without a dark cloud over our heads from a loss.”
