COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s tennis team (7-6) takes a break from Southeastern Conference play this week, traveling to face the Rebels of UNLV (5-4) in a mid-week contest in Las Vegas. The match is set for a 3:30 p.m. ET start on Thursday at the Frank and Vicki Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Rebels hold a slight 3-1 advantage in the all-time series with the Gamecocks. Carolina claimed a 4-3 victory in last year’s meeting between the two schools.

Carolina most recently dropped a pair of matches to top-25 opponents. The third-ranked Georgia Bulldogs collected a 7-0 win in Columbia last Friday, while the 14th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers claimed a 6-1 win in SEC play on Sunday. Carolina fell to 7-6 for the season and 0-4 in the SEC following weekend action. Sophomore Pedro Campos picked up Carolina’s lone victory against UT, winning a third-set tiebreak against Boris Conkic on Sunday. Campos paces the Gamecocks in singles play with an 11-2 record this spring.

UNLV, the defending Mountain West Conference tournament champion, owns a 5-4 overall record. The Rebels will host SEC foe Mississippi State on Wednesday before entertaining the Gamecocks on Thursday. Elliot Wronski, ranked 93rd in the most recent ITA singles rankings, leads UNLV this season having lost just two dual matches in 11 outings this spring.
