Today South Carolina Athletics makes one of the most strategic announcements in Gamecock Athletics history. In many ways the table has been set for South Carolina to consistently battle for championships: We have a great university, a great community, and the best coaches recruiting for us. Many of our competitors have already realized the correlation between high-quality athletic facilities and high-performing teams.

Many of our fans see the 80,000-seat capacity of Williams-Brice Stadium and the shimmering glass of the Colonial Life Arena and assume the rest of our facilities are just as impressive.

But, the dated facilities are limiting. By providing better facilities, our coaches can attract better athletes just as Innovista, the research campus, The Strom Thurmond Fitness and Wellness Center, Honors College housing, the Greek village, and the West Quad “green” dorms are a few examples of how better academic facilities have attracted better scholars and faculty. The Garnet Way is our commitment to building a championship athletics program. Over the last two years, we have been assessing, researching and planning. We have identified a significant need over the next five years to invest in facilities and resources so we can consistently battle for championships. Many of these exciting additions are already under construction: The new baseball stadium, the re-development of the 41-acres we know as “The Roost”, and the future needs of Williams-Brice Stadium.
