COLUMBIA – The South Carolina men’s golf team is ranked fourth in the latest Golfstat Head-to-Head Ratings, which were released Wednesday. The Gamecock women are also moving up in the polls as they find themselves 19th in this week’s Golfweek/Sagarin Ratings.

The men are ranked in all three collegiate golf ratings services this week, the highest being their fourth-place nod in the Golfstat ratings. Carolina is No. 8 in this week’s GolfWeek/Sagarin ratings, while the nation’s coaches have the Gamecocks 14th as of last Friday.

On the women’s side, coach Kalen Anderson’s team moved up to 19th in the Golfweek/Sagarin ratings while jumping into the Golfstat Head-to-Head rating at No. 24.

Tennessee’s men stand atop the Golfstat ratings, while Lamar University, a member of the Southland Conference in Beaumont, Texas, holds the top spot in the Golfweek system. In a nod to the quirkiness of the collegiate golf rankings system, UCLA stands atop the coaches’ poll but is not in the Top 25 in either of the other two ratings.

The UCLA women, however, get top billing in both the Golfstat and Golfweek rankings, while crosstown rival Southern Cal gets the No. 1 ranking in the coaches’ poll.

South Carolina’s women face nine top 25 foes this weekend at the Lady Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Gamecock men have a three-week hiatus before returning to action at the Isleworth Collegiate Oct. 24-26.
