LAS VEGAS – South Carolina men’s tennis wrapped up a successful trip to Las Vegas with four more singles wins in the Rebel Fall Invitational Saturday afternoon. Three Gamecocks won both their singles matches in the tournament with Diego Cubas, Ivan Machado and Thomas Stoddard collecting wins on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
In Sunday’s singles action, Pedro Campos suffered his first singles loss despite winning the first set tie-breaker. UNLV’s Wesley Burrows went on to win the next to sets 6-2, 6-4 to collect the win in Flight 1. Cubas kept his winning streak alive with a 7-6 (4), 6-4 win over Luca Barlocchi in Flight 2. David Wolff won his Flight 3 match 7-5, 6-4 over Attila Toth, and Machado kept the winning going with a commanding 6-2, 6-0 win over Bryan Miller in Flight 4. Chris Sheehan suffered a 1-6, 2-6 defeat in Flight 5 to Andrew Giuffrida, but Stoddard closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Matthew Kunkel.
The Gamecocks take a few weeks off before making their first of three trips this season to Athens for the Bulldog Scramble beginning on Nov. 7.
