COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina hits the road for the final away regular season game of the year. The Gamecocks take on Arkansas at 1:30 p.m. as both teams continue to fight for a berth in the SEC Tournament. Carolina, currently sixth in the conference standings, holds a 10-4-4 overall record and 4-3-2 in the conference after a 0-0 draw against #13 LSU last Thursday. Arkansas comes in with an 11-6-0 record (4-5-0 SEC) after a 3-0 loss at Florida.

ON THE HORIZON
South Carolina hosts Florida Thursday night at 8 p.m. in a game that will be nationally televised by the Fox Soccer Channel. The Gators have already won the SEC regular season championship with their 3-0 win against Arkansas Thursday coupled with LSU’s draw at South Carolina. The Gamecocks are looking for their first victory against the Gators.

SCOUTING ARKANSAS
After finishing last in the SEC in 2007, fourth year coach Gordon Henderson has his team in the thick of the SEC Tournament race with a 4-4 record. Britni Williams leads the SEC with seven shutouts and is third behind LSU’s Mo Isom and Carolina’s Mollie Patton with a 0.95 goals against average. The Lady’Backs are an even team offensively with 11 players having scored a goal. Lindsay Patterson leads the team with six goals and 15 points on a strong .400 shot percentage.

PATTON SHINES IN FIRST SEASON IN GOAL
Redshirt-sophomore Mollie Patton has been one of many bright spots upon Carolina’s new starters this year. Playing for the first time since she graduated high school in 2005, Patton currently is second in the SEC with a 0.80 goals against average despite playing the most minutes of all keepers. She tied a USC single-season record with her seventh shutout this year in a 0-0 draw against No. 13 LSU. She began the season with a 434:23 shutout streak and came up big in Carolina’s draw with No. 7 Florida State.
