COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina junior midfielder Kim Miller has been named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week for her efforts in Carolina’s unbeaten weekend that included two first half goals in a 3-1 win at Arkansas.

A defensive midfielder and leader as team captain, Miller played well on both ends of the positional spectrum in a draw against No. 13 LSU and win at Arkansas. Against the ranked Tigers, Miller served as the catalyst in the team’s possession play as they limited LSU to only four shots in the game, the lowest output of the season for the SEC’s most potent offensive attack.

Against the Razorbacks, Miller did as an individual what no other team as a whole had been able to do in Arkansas’s previous 17 games – score two first half goals against Arkansas. Miller proved to be deadly on set pieces against Arkansas, scoring the games first goal in the 15th minute off a free kick and scoring her second goal in the 37th by bending a corner kick into the net.

The multi-goal game was the first of her career as she moves to four goals and two assists on the year for 10 points. The win against Arkansas clinched a third-consecutive SEC Tournament berth for the Gamecocks. The honor is the first for Miller and the third this year for a Gamecock.

South Carolina returns home Thursday night for a nationally televised match against SEC regular-season champion Florida. The Gamecocks (11-4-4, 5-3-2 SEC) and No. 7 Gators (15-2-1, 10-0-0 SEC) will kick off at 8 p.m. at Stone Stadium for the NSCAA Game of the Week, televised nationally by the Fox Soccer Channel (Time Warner Cable channel 149). The Gamecocks will look to prevent Florida from recording the first 11-0-0 season in SEC history.
