COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – Zam Fredrick scored 23 points to help South Carolina rout South Carolina-Upstate 75-53 on Saturday.

First-year coach Darrin Horn became the first South Carolina coach to win his first three games since Johnnie McMillian started 5-0 in 1944 in his lone season as coach.

The Spartans (0-3) trailed for most of the game and would draw no closer than 14 points in the second half.

South Carolina used a 22-5 run to take a 35-12 lead with just under seven minutes remaining in the first half.

Bobby Davis led the Spartans with 12 points and De’Marion Gordon added 10.

South Carolina ended that stretch by scoring on eight straight possessions, pushing its lead to 27 points at one point in the second half.
