BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – Columbia standout and AC Flora student-athlete Logan Holler has signed with the University of South Carolina equestrian program for the 2009-10 season. Holler, whose father Ed “Punkey” Holler played football at South Carolina from 1960-62, will be the first Columbia native to sign with the hometown Gamecocks under head coach Boo Major.

“Logan will be the first Columbia native that we have signed,” Major said. “I also love the fact that Logan will be graduating from my former high school, AC Flora. Logan is also a legacy as her father, Punkey, is a former Carolina football player. We expect great things from Logan and are happy to add another South Carolinian to our team.”

Holler has excelled as a two-sport student-athlete at AC Flora in addition to her achievements showing horses. She was named the 2008 Palmetto Medal Final’s champion in addition to being the Progressive Show Jumping (PSJ) and South Carolina Hunter Jumper Association (SCHJA) Regular Working Hunter champion. Holler also was named the 2008 PSJ Medal Final’s reserve champion.

In 2007 she was the Hoffman Van Wieran Working Hunter Perpetual Torphy grand champion as well as the Govenor’s Cup Medal Finals champion. She is also a PSJ and SCHJA Pre Child Adult Equitation and Hunter champion (2005) and PSJ and SCHJA Short Stirrup Hunter and Equitation champion (2003).

A strong student in the classroom as well, Holler carries a 4.4 grade-point average and is a member of the National Honor’s Society. She is also active with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).

Holler, who also plays soccer and volleyball, attends AC Flora and is trained by Mary Jackson. Her parents are James Edward and Renea Holler. Her father, (James) Ed “Punkey” Holler played fullback at Carolina from 1960-602 before playing two seasons in the NFL after being drafted by the Green Bay Packers.
