COLUMBIA, S.C. – Demetress Adams from the South Carolina women’s basketball team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.
Adams averaged 14.7 points on 57.7 percent field goal shooting and 86.7 percent accuracy at the free-throw line while pulling down 8.0 rebounds per game in leading the Gamecocks to a 2-1 record last week. She leads the team in scoring and rebounding (11.6 ppg/8.8 rpg) after last week’s three games.
Adams posted her fourth double-double (16 pts/12 reb) of the season, her third in as many games, and swiped a season-high five steals against USC Upstate. The senior battled the vaunted Stanford frontcourt for nine points on 3-of-6 shooting. She netted a season-high 19 points against Charlotte, including her first career 3-pointer while going a perfect 8-of-8 showing at the free-throw line to go with nine rebounds.
