Opening Statement…
It’s always good to head into Christmas with a victory, especially one where we came out and displayed the kind of energy that we did from the get go. The guys were really active defensively, not always good, but active. I thought when we moved the basketball and shared the basketball and got it reversed, especially the guys inside. We really had a lot of good things happen on the offensive end. Obviously, Mike (Holmes) and Dominique (Archie) were both terrific tonight. I think it’s encouraging to see them be aggressive, but at the same time do it within the scheme of what we’re doing and be under control. Devan (Downey) had a nice little run in the second half. It started with him finishing an out of bounds play, a 3, and a pull up, and it all came within the concept of the scheme. A lot of positives like that to take away from the game tonight. Presbyterian is an extremely tough team in terms of how hard they play. They’re very well-coached. Pierre Miller did a phenomenal job tonight against our pressure. He played almost the entire game and handled it well. I saw some good things from our team tonight. Glad to head into the break with a win.
On Dominique Archie’s offense…
I think he was a little more aggressive when he caught the ball. At the same time, it was within the flow of what we were doing. He had the one monster dunk that just kind of happened and he was aggressive taking it to the basket. It was just good to see that. I think he did some good things for us.
On the importance of Brandis Raley-Ross…
Again tonight, similar to last game, he did a lot of little basketball things for us. He did a great job on the offensive glass tonight. I think he had at least two put-backs that I can remember off the top of my head. He was able to handle the basketball for us at the point some. He can do a lot of different things so when you have a guy out there like that it helps.
