COLUMBIA, S.C. – Zam Fredrick from the South Carolina men’s basketball team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.
Fredrick surpassed the 1,000-point plateau for his total college career (including two seasons at Georgia Tech) in South Carolina’s victory over Wofford early in the week, and then followed with a stellar performance against Auburn, leading Carolina with 27 points en route to an SEC-opener victory. Fredrick contributed nine points against Wofford, collecting his 1,000th career point with 2:28 remaining in the first half on a made 3-pointer.
Fredrick was 9-of-18 shooting from the floor, including 4-of-10 from 3-point range to lead the Gamecocks to victory over Auburn on Saturday. Fredrick was just one point shy of tying his career high in that contest. The SEC opener victory marked the first for the Gamecocks since the 2003 season.
