COLUMBIA, S.C. – South Carolina women’s soccer coach Shelley Smith has announced that her staff will conduct three summer soccer camps this year. The staff will offer a Day Camp, two levels of Skills Camps and an Identification & Advanced Skills Camp this summer to help facilitate mental and physical growth in the development of soccer skills.
The Day Camp for Girls will be held June 22-26 for girls ages 5-12. Two options for the Day Camp will be available: a Half Day Camp (ages 5-12) and a Full Day Camp (ages 8-12). In these camps, players will be grouped by both age and skill level so that each child is challenged but not overwhelmed.
Level I (Jr.) and Level II Skills Camps will be held Friday, June 26 through Sunday, June 28. The Jr. Level I Skills Camp (Grades 5-8 as of Fall 2009) is set up to provide the high level youth player the opportunity to train in a competitive environment and is geared for those aspiring to be selected for club and state teams. The Level II Skills Camp (Grades 9-12) will focus on reining campers’ technical and tactical abilities.
The Identification & Advanced Skills Camp (Grades 9-12) will be held July 22-25 (Wednesday-Saturday). The goal of the camp is to stimulate a top collegiate training environment and is geared for soccer players looking to play at the collegiate level.
