BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. – South Carolina equestrian coach Boo Major has announced the signing of Sara Green to a national letter of intent to join the Gamecocks in the 2009-10 season. Sara is a Hunter Seat rider from Sherborn, Massachusetts.

Green was the 2006 Junior Hunter Finals champion and lead the country in Small Juniors. She won the 2006 NEEC Junior Equitation Finals and was named Grand Junior Hunter Champion at Washington. She was the 2007 USET Vermont Circuit Equitation champion in addition to winning Region III at Maclay and being named 15 and under Equitation champion at the Capital Challenge. In 2008, Green placed eighth at the PNHS Pessoa/USEF Hunter Seat Equitation Medal Finals in addition to taking 11th overall at the WIHS Equitation Finals.

“Sara has a great background in hunters and equitation, and she also catch rides quite a bit,” Major said. “She will be a force to reckon with in varsity equestrian and we’re excited to have her become a Gamecock.”

Green is trained by Frank Madden and attends Dover Sherborn High School. Her parents are Bennett and Debbie Green.
