COLUMBIA, S.C. – Athletes from South Carolina football, women’s basketball, track and field and softball participated in the fourth annual Richland 101 for Kids, on Thursday July 25, at Dutch Square mall. The athletes signed posters for the youth in attendance and talked with them about the importance of education and physical fitness and Cocky and the Gamecock cheerleaders helped lead an exercise class. The children in attendance had the opportunity to learn about the inner workings of Richland County– everything from operating fire trucks and ambulances to caring for animals and dealing with insects — as part of Richland 101 for Kids.

The free, one-day program was hosted by Richland County and was aimed at children ages 7 to 12.
