NORMAN, Okla. – South Carolina’s Wesley Bryan defeated Washington State signee Hank Frame in the second round of the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship on Thursday morning, 3 and 2, to advance to the round of 16. Bryan’s third-round match is set to get underway at 12:40 p.m. CDT at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.

Bryan mostly dominated the morning’s match from start to finish, going 2 up after two holes on the strength of back-to-back birdies. Frame would come back to square the match with par at the fourth and birdie at the sixth, but Bryan would retake the lead two holes later after Frame double-bogeyed the eighth. Back-to-back birdies at 13 and 14 put Bryan 3 up with four holes to play, and the next two holes were halved to give the Chapin, S.C., native the victory.

Bryan’s third-round match will be against Chris Polski of Eugene, Ore., who defeated Tom Whitney in his second-round match, 4 and 3. Live results are available through usapl.org.
