COLUMBIA, S.C. –
ESPN Regional Television, Inc. (ERT), a subsidiary of ESPN, announced that tickets for the 2009 Charleston Classic are on sale as of 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 17. The second annual Charleston Classic will be held on Nov. 19, 20 and 22 at Carolina First Arena in Charleston, S.C. South Carolina will play La Salle in the tournament’s first round on Thursday, Nov. 19, on ESPNU. The contest is set for a 9:30 p.m. (ET) tip time.

Fans can purchase tickets to all six sessions (12 games) for $90 each, or single-session tickets (two games) for $20 each. “Booster tickets” are also available for $50, allowing entrance to all three sessions (six games) involving the pre-designated team of your choice. Tickets are available at www.CharlestonClassic.com, by calling the College of Charleston box office at (843) 953-2632 or at the Carolina First Arena Box Office.

The Classic, a bracket-format tournament, will feature 12 games over the course of four days. Each team will compete in one game per day, with the two teams that remain undefeated facing off in a championship contest on Sunday, Nov. 22. The Gamecocks join a highly-competitive field at the event, which features (2008-09 record) La Salle (18-13), South Florida (9-22), Tulane (14-17), Miami (Fla.) (19-13), UNC-Wilmington (7-25), Davidson (27-8) and Penn State (27-11). South Carolina, Davidson, Miami and Penn State each made an appearance in the Postseason NIT last March.
