COLUMBIA, S.C. – Junior goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer from the South Carolina men’s soccer team has been named AgSouth Athlete of the Week.

Maurer collected two shutouts in weekend action, first in a 0-0 tie against No. 25 Northwestern and then in a 1-0 victory over Northern Illinois, competing at the Lakeside Classic hosted by Northwestern. Maurer, who has played every minute in net for South Carolina in the last 25 games, collected three saves in each respective match in weekend action, earning a spot on the All-Tournament squad.

Maurer now has four shutouts in six games this year, boasting a 0.32 goals against average, while he currently has 18 career shutouts, just 1.5 back from fifth place in the Gamecock all-time record book.
