COLUMBIA, S.C. – The University of South Carolina men’s soccer team (4-2-1) continues non-conference action when it travels to face the NC State Wolfpack (4-2-1) on Tuesday at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh. South Carolina owns a 7-6-1 upperhand in the all-time series with NC State.

Series Information
South Carolina owns a 7-6-1 upperhand in the all-time series with NC State. The Gamecocks have won three straight in the series, including a 3-2 victory in the last meeting between the two schools at NC State during the 2006 campaign.

Scouting NC State
NC State also enters the match on Tuesday with a 4-2-1 overall record, with victories over Winthrop, Denver, Columbia and Campbell. The Wolfpack also stand at 0-2-1 in ACC play, with a tie against Maryland and losses to North Carolina and most recently a 2-0 loss to Virginia Tech on Sunday. Ronnie Bouemboue leads the NC State offense with four goals and four assists on the year, while goalkeeper Christopher Widman owns a 0.97 goals against average.

Berson Collects 425th Career Victory
South Carolina head men’s soccer coach Mark Berson collected his 425th career victory (including one-year total from The Citadel) when the Gamecocks defeated Northern Illinois on Sept. 20, competing at the Lakeside Classic in Evanston, Ill. Berson ranks as one of the most celebrated coaches in NCAA men’s soccer history.

Lindsay Scores First Goal Of The Season
South Carolina junior forward Mike Lindsay scored his first goal of the season in South Carolina’s 4-1 loss to Davidson on Friday. Sophomore midfielder Danny Cates led the Carolina attack with five shots in the match.

Lakeside Classic A Success
South Carolina traveled to the Lakeside Classic hosted by Northwestern University Sept. 18-20 and battled against a tough tournament field. The Gamecocks tied then-No. 25 Northwestern 0-0 in double-overtime and followed with a 1-0 victory over Northern Illinois. Goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer and defenders Mario Burstein and Will Traynor were selected to the all-tournament squad.

Carolina In NCAA Statistics
The Gamecocks rank among the top 10 in several NCAA statistical categories as a team (games through Sept. 20). The squad ranks tied for 10th with a 0.67 shutout percentage, eighth in team goals against average (0.32) and sixth in team save percentage (0.913). Individually, goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer ranks 12th in goals against average (0.32) and is tied for 10th with a .909 save percentage.

The Gamecocks will travel to Central Florida for their first Conference USA contest of the season. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m. on Sunday in Orlando.
