ORLANDO – South Carolina bounced back from a difficult first outing to post four wins in the second day of the University of Central Florida Invitational Friday. The Gamecocks found their range with No. 28 Diego Cubas fighting through a third-set tiebreaker to pick up his first singles win of the season. He then paired with sophomore Ivan Machado to get in the win column of the Doubles A Draw.

Cubas’ singles win was followed by a 6-3, 6-3 win over Johan Beigart for junior Johannes Pulsfort in the Singles B Draw. Freshman Harry Menzies rounded out the singles wins for the Gamecocks with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Joe Delinks, the first of Menzies’ collegiate career.

In doubles play, Cubas and Machado, ranked No. 9 in the nation, recovered from Thursday’s defeat to top Claudio Romano and Brock Sakey 8-5 in the Doubles A Draw. UCF’s top tandem of Blaze Schwartz and Marc Rocafort collected the Doubles A title with an 8-4 win over South Carolina’s Ivan Cressoni and Pulsfort.

The tournament wraps up on Saturday with another round of singles at the UCF Tennis Complex beginning at 9 a.m.
