COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina women’s soccer team will hold an NCAA Selection Show Watch Party Monday at the Carolina Ale House on Lady Street in The Vista. Fans and media are invited to be with the team as the brackets for the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament are announced on ESPNews. The Gamecocks will be at the Ale House from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The selection show is scheduled to air in the 8-8:30 p.m. block on ESPNews.

WHO: The SEC Champion University of South Carolina women’s soccer team, coaches, administrators, fans, students and media

WHAT: The 2009 NCAA Women’s Soccer Selection Show will take place and the Gamecocks will find out what they are seeded and if they will host or go on the road for the third straight year. South Carolina is in strong position to host for the first time.

WHEN: Monday, November 9, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The brackets will be announced between 8:00-8:30 p.m.

WHERE: Carolina Ale House, 708 Lady Street in The Vista [(803) 227-7150]

WHY: South Carolina (17-3-2) won the program’s first SEC Championship when the team knocked off LSU in Sunday’s final by an 8-7 margin in penalty kicks. The Gamecocks have advanced to the NCAA Tournament each of the past two seasons, earning a draw against Duke in 2007 and falling to William & Mary in overtime in 2008. With an RPI in the top 15, South Carolina is in position to earn a national seed and host the first and second rounds. Players and coaches from the South Carolina women’s soccer team will gather with fans and administrators for the official NCAA bracket announcement. Players and coaches will be available for interviews during and after the announcement (8-8:30 p.m.).

THE ROAD TO REDEMPTION: South Carolina lost only three games during the regular season – Georgia, Florida and LSU – and redeemed themselves by advancing past all three teams in the tournament.
