Nov. 12, 2009

Former University of South Carolina golfer Camila Mori has likely gained full exempt status on the Duramed FUTURES Tour for the 2010 season after her performance at the tour’s qualifying tournament last week.

Mori, a 2008 Carolina graduate, tied for 12th place with former University of Arkansas golfer Lucy Nunn with rounds of 70-74-74-71-73=362 (+2), only three shots out of the top 10. She is one of two former Gamecocks that competed on the FUTURES Tour in 2009; Jenna Pearson was the other.

Last season, Mori played in 11 FUTURES Tour events and finished 97th on the final official money list, just seven spots out of earning her tour card for the 2010 season. She made the cut in seven of 11 events, and her top finish came at the Duramed Championship in June where she tied for 20th place.

It is likely that Mori will earn full exempt status for the 2010 season as 30 players earned exempt status at last year’s FUTURES Tour Q-School. The exact number of players earning exempt status will not be determined until after the completion of the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament in December. Once status is determined for the 2010 LPGA Tour, status will be assigned on the 2010 FUTURES Tour.
